Patchbay
- KXStudio catia – Graphical patchbay – easy to use attractive and includes troubleshooting aids, but does not have a backup restore function
- Patchage – Graphical patchbay
- Patchmatrix – A different take on a patchbay with switching and gain control – midi and osc interface
- JackSanity – a command line patchbay and transport configuration control for Jack (I have not checked this one out)
Mixers and Monitor Control
- Non-Mixer – Incredibly flexible, Midi controlled extensible mixer for Jack. Each mixer strip is independent and groupable. Hosts audio plugins and interfaces with Non-Session control.
- zita-mu1 – four input monitor control / PPM / Talkback application
Interconnection and monitoring

- netjack2 – built in jack network connector. Hub and spoke system with master and slave. Slaves lose their ALSA connection, which can be restored with zita-ajbridge.
- zita-ajbridge – connect any ALSA device into Jack (Jack natively connects to only a single sound card) This also resolves sound card clock issues.
- ebumeter – Metering according to EBU R-128
- meterbridge – Selectable types of sound level meters, stackable
- silentjack – Execute a program on silence
- jaaa – (JACK and ALSA Audio Analyser, is an audio signal generator and spectrum analyser designed to make accurate measurements.
- openob – Can also be used on local networks for high quality two channel connections between computers.
Media Players
- vlc – the computer audio-video “jack” of all trades. The biggest problem with vlc is that it has a million settings. It can play files, streams, playlists, etc. It can deliver them to jack, to icecast or shoutcast as a client, it can make rtsp:// streams. You need to read 50 pages of man file to understand how to do exactlly what you want.
- madjack – a file player that could be looked at as a virtual cart machine. Has OSC controls so you can run it from an cellphone or tablet wirelessly using an OSC app like
Streamers and Internet Remote Sources
